Dear Friends,

All Harris County residents deserve access to greenspaces that give families opportunities to stay healthy and connect with neighbors. It's proven that easy access to greenspaces is vital to a community's overall health, social cohesion and quality of life.
That's why Precinct One is creating the Hill at Sims Trails. This new Harris County regional park is one of many infrastructure projects funded by Precinct One because improving the lives of all residents is a priority.

To design a park that truly serves the needs of our community, Precinct One has held two community meetings - one in November 2019 and one in March 2021 - to gather feedback from residents. For those who were able to attend, thank you! If you were not able to join us, the recorded meeting is available on the Hill at Sims project page.

After you have a chance to watch the March 31 meeting, we encourage you to email comments to capital.projects@cp1.hctx.net and/or info@houstonparksboard.org. We want to hear from you.

But we're not stopping there. Sign up to join us tomorrow, Saturday, June 5 from 9 am to 11 am as Precinct One staff joins Air Alliance Houston and the Sunnyside Community to bike and walk with air monitors to raise awareness about air pollution. Precinct One staff will also be available to guide you through the proposed designs of the next phases of the Hill at Sims Trails project. More community meetings and in-person events are planned, including a community meeting on Thursday, August 5 - Save the Date!

Remember, everyone is invited so be sure to let your neighbors know, forward our invite to them or ask them to join the email list by contacting capital.projects@cp1.hctx.net.

Sincerely,

Rodney Ellis
